The Center for Parents and Teachers, Inc. (CPT) was started within the Concord Public Schools in 1987 as "The Early Childhood Resource Center".
For many years CPT ran a curriculum lending library, parent education programs and teacher trainings within the school system. Continuing to offer these services, in 2008, CPT incorporated and gained 501(c)(3) IRS nonprofit status in 2009. This new nonprofit status allows CPT to receive essential financial support through our local United Way affilitate (the Concord-Carlisle Community Chest), as well as through community foundations such as the Sudbury Foundation. CPT also gratefully receives donations from local Parent-Teacher Groups, individuals and businesses including Target (which offered CPT a generous grant to strengthen the foundations of literacy development in young children) and Walmart (which provided a grant in support of parenting education).
CPT prides itself on being responsive to the needs of the community, quickly drawing together resources and support groups for parents in times of crisis (as in the recent suicides of young people in our community) and offering educational workshops to help teachers better assist students in addressing special needs.
We are grateful to the many supporters of CPT, without whom we could not continue our important work. Please consider joining these supporters with your tax deductible financial contribution! If interested, please go to the "Donate Now!" page. Thanks in advance for your consideration and support!
